What if there is no dist?
A 383 would have a distributor. If what you are considering is an LS based engine. They are great but you need deep pockets to marinize them. Manifolds are around $1,200 and the marine starter isn’t cheap.. the conversions are getting common but almost all are nowhere near USCG compliance.

There are distributor conversions for LS engines, and someone probably makes USCG certified ignition controllers for carb conversions.

Ilmore
Indmar
PCM

companies that have avoided the LS and LT
Mercruiser (they made their own blocks based off of gen 1 SBC parts)

ok gave that guy a call so its a 6.0 vortec ls engine no dist and all fuel injected so no option for me. I think i am going to just get a used 888 drive with corect ratio and keep the engine. Thank you all for your help

its a 6.0 LS2 motor NOT a vortec

6.0L truck would be an LQ9. Vortec is on the engine cover, but it’s just branding that GM uses
