Me transom was nailed together

Looks to be the original transom from 1974.

Two 3/4 sheets nailed together with dabs of glue here and there.

Don't know what kind of wood, but if it's original, it lasted a long time with nails, knots and only a painted surface on the inside.

Just guessing but I believe battery acid did the major damage.

If that's a fiberglass boat, that isn't a factory install.

Even if it's an aluminum boat, it's not a factory install either.

What kind of boat are we talking about here?
