I am going to use SolarFix. I heard Tenara is really tough to use.

Was just looking at a Sailrite video and they were using their cheaper machine which is the same as this Rex and they were reversing before stopping.

I also recently got a Rex 607z. Never sewed a stitch in my life till i started this project.

Guess i should have read the manual. Have done plenty of stitching both forward and reverse from dead stop to close to full speed with out a single problem.
Im using a v92 thread with a 18 needle.

The hard part for me was the thread would keep tearing when i was sewing on practicing patches till i got the upper tension correct. Now it seems to be sewing great.
Here is two pieces i have done so far. Not perfect but for my first try i can live with it! The "L" seat is not complete yet but sense the pic was taken i have added some batting to the side piece

Great to talk to yet another satisfied Rex-607z owner

I got a way with a lot of reversing too -- For a while -- Then when my R607-z started fraying thread & balling up at the needle

I broke down & actually read the manual / Found the problem along with the recommendation on how to avoid the problem from recurring.


I was just passing this along as its not uncommon for those in the learning stages who are not familiar with this scenario to get frustrated & end up struggling to resolve it or worse yet paying for servicing over this type of thing.

Checking de-burring the parts involved it fairly easy --

I should have mentioned if you drop the needle into you fabric about 1/4 with the hand wheel on a rex607-z and shift from forward to reverse you can see the needle bend as the material shifts with the feet. Its only at sensitive at certain points in the rotation.
