I have a 1989 Mercury 115 hp 4-cylinder 2-stroke (0C100574).

I have an opportunity to purchase a complete 2000 Mercury 125 up 4-cylinder 2-stroke (0T051775) for cheap. (Motor no good, lots of good parts)

My questions are:
1) Will the lower unit on the 2000 direct bolt on my 1989? (This is the most important question)
2) Will the oil injection pump and tank/lines direct bolt on my 1989?

First serial number took me to a Parts listing for a 25" Shaft
The Second Serial number took me to a listing for a 4 cylinder Jet...

The first serial number can be found here:

The second serial number can be found here:

I saw the motor and have a pic of the serial... It isnt a jet. The drive shafts have the same part number

Yet, even your second link there states "80 Jet"

Well since you have your links, you can look up all the Parts #s to check Compatibility

You knew how/where to look, but were just too Lazy and wanted someone else to do it for you.

I never said they made a 125 in 89... The 115 is an 89 and the 125 is a 2000... As stated in the original post.

Does that mean the 2000 125 lower unit will not direct bolt on to the 89 115?

The reason I ask is because I see so many posts on the interweb saying that the lower units from 90 hp to 125 hp are interchangable but I wanted professional opinions

The shift rod heights are different when they went from a 3 dog jaw to a 6 I believe. It may I'd you have everything off off the donor motor.
