Thanks for the fly by, guys...
Sunday was more of the same...moving stored boxes into the open, going through them, and re-sorting and positioning...

Was able to spend a bit of time slowly tightening the cylinder hardware on to the engine steering arm and making sure the side to side travel was smooth and bind free...

Read these, believe it or not...

And got this far...

Centered

Full Starboard Turn

Full Port Turn

Tell you guys what, though...this system is slick and looks like it is going to be Suh-WEEEEET!!!

Too bad, that at some point in the near future, all this has to come apart. It is one of the issues that have caused this build to take more time, when I decided, somewhat foolishly, to completely redesign a restoration......but you know what, when its done it'll be all mine!:lock1:

Then went out to dinner to celebrate Mother-in-law's Birthday at the Cheesecake Factory, mmm:party:mm, that was tasty...

End of Sunday...too full and too sleepy to post...

Monday morning I get called into work on my week off...MMM:mmph:MMPH!...guess its gonna be weird like that...anyhoo...

Back to house projects tomorrow, then I have to get some quality time in with my van, too... for now, I just got home from "real work" and I am done!

Till the next time I have something to ramble on about, happy boat stuff, y'all!:D

If the plumbers need any PVC pipe bent, you are da man! Seriously, I hate plumbing problems and hope the fix goes quickly/cheaply so you can enjoy the rest of your week. Hang in there Gus, your iboats Fan Club will be with you until splashdown and beyond, if necessary.

Gus - There's some serious work going on there Bud! I gotta get down there and see if for myself! But some cold ones on and next time I am Miami way I stop by. I don't know where the heck you find all the time to do this stuff. I have been so darn busy selling LED lights that I have not had the time to work on my project OR go fishing!

That's a nice looking new steering system....seems a pity to put a used motor on it....:D

I'm sure the mob would give you permission to buy a new one.

Holey Moley...what a week...
I worked harder and under more stress on my time off, than at work...
Sheeesh!
And all of that was just the gettin ready part, we ain't even begun to get into the actual tear up of the house...that's still a bit away...
Week's over and I could use a vacation...

Anyhow, got stuff sorted and ready for the home surgery...
Lots of moving and opening and sorting of boxes and giving away a ton of stuff, finally got us the room to move around as needed in the upcoming mess...

Then I tore into my van late Wednesday afternoon, and got a good look at what to expect...
Up with the sun Thursday and begin the teardown...

By sometime after lunch, I had a pretty good idea that another day's worth of work and a few Benjamins lighter, I might bring it back to life...

Yep, pretty sad...and funny thing, never even hinted at a cooling problem...hmmmmmm...and yes, there is an intact thermostat under all the rusty rubber bits, albeit quite stuck in there...

Thursday after dinner, went to local parts house to pick up my previously placed internet order for most every part needed, quite successfully I might add...then at the rise of the sun Friday, I got serious busy...had to make one more run to the other parts house for a sensor and some oil resistant hose and by dinner time Friday, I was running the engine and picking up tools...

Oh yeah, these are just one of three or five sets of hand tools I currently own...you might call them back-ups...for the back-ups...

Finished...sorry I didn't get a shot of all the new parts installed as I was on a mission and never even thought of stopping to take a pic...

Saturday afternoon test run to HD...need a 3" hole saw to cut out the mounting hole for my steering pump...and a couple new mini-blinds for the back room...all is good...

I was fortunate to get everything done so that Sunday can actually be a day of rest...
Oh wait I still have all the regular home chores to do tomorrow...washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping...

Bunch of work there Gus ! Hope the curb alert went well and everything was cleaned out . Just watch out how close your tool bench is to the curb !! :D
Btw , did the radiator come out the top or did you have to drop it . Some vans can be a real pita to get them out ...

All free items were removed within a couple of hours...no tools went missing during the rush...they were far away...;)

Rad came out the front...fortunately this van is designed with a removable radiator support, that's what some of the sheet metal pieces are laying about...start with the grill and begin peeling layers off...

Happy fast week, y'all...:D

I never cease to be amazed at how motors will continue to run very well when things like this exist internally. Good on ya, Gus!

Well as far as Mondays go...
Mine was awesome!
Let me tell you...
It was a bit of pre-planning that made it happen...
When I got the call I was expecting...
"friderday" was in the hood and wanted to stop by and say hi...
Oh yeah and check out the "Bassassin", too...

sorry for the fuzzy pic...camera was having an episode of thermal expansion...

As always the time ends all too quickly...
Thanks for the visit, Leeese...:D

OK, so... installed the bilge outlet with attached PEX pipe...new experiment...s'posed to be able to heat and bend, plus it can be form fit to the barb of the thru-hull...

Using a heat gun to bend, seems to work really well...apply a good bit of over all around heat to it, bend it to shape, or if you want, slip it over a barbed fitting, hold till cooled off, and continue or repeat as needed...

If you want it completely kink free, then you can stuff it full of sand and get some nice mandrel bends...I di'n't...;)

End of the week coming soon and really looking forward to the following week...gonna be off, getting the homestead ready for some serious plumbing issues...
Busted main drain...
Ah well among all the prepping and moving about to get ready for the invasion of home wreckers, I will get to spend some quality time with the 'ol boat...

And "The Package" should be arriving soon...

Hi GT,
Glad to see all the work is blasting away and looks great. In regards to the pex they make adapters to go from barb to pex. Look in the "SHARKBITE" area or the pex area at Home DeBlow or Blowes. By heating up the pex to make the barb fit you lose the integrity and molecular value/structures of the materials. I hope the area is easily accessible.
Pex is not intended to be heated up. If you don't make the transition with the available fitting then at the least still put a hose clamp on it. Pex is very flexible and typically will contour to bends and sweeping turns without being heated.
Also Foamcore PVC pipe in regards to plumbing renovations is not accepted by typically all plumbing codes. For the boat application I see no reason why not to use it.Home deblow sells it cause there stuck with it.

Awe....awesome picture right there, buddy. We had such a nice visit. I hated to go. Big props to you and the admiral. I felt so welcome and your hospitality was a much needed respite to a stressful day. I haven't tried to load my pic of us yet as I am still experiencing photobucket problems. Anyway...thanks again, Gus...not to shabby for a couple of old hippies!! BTW...went to dr. today. He shot that bum joint on my thumb with some cortisone. We'll see how it fares in the long run, but hurts like a moth&( ^$#(*)* right now.
