Agreed. Even without the cup at this point, the Preds have played like a championship team - which is a bit new for them, and exciting for Nashville. As much as I enjoy the Red Wings and liked being a fan for them since back in the 70s, the Predators games are much more fun. The marketing team behind Nashville has been phenomenal and does an outstanding job for the fans ...

... but I still want a cup on the shelf here in Nashville ;)

I will be the first to say that Nashville is not playing like a 16th seed team! They are great skaters, the defense is pretty amazing and smothering, and their stick handling has been stellar. But, the Pens have had the breaks, the fortunate bounces, and have done a better job of capitalizing on the opponents mistakes. I don't see this decided in 4 games ... that would be a shame. Play-off hockey is always a notch above, but this year I feel it has been a couple notches above. Some of the games I have been exhausted at the end ... I can only image those that were actually playing! I would be okay with a 7 game series and lots of overtimes (more hockey to watch). Because of the history, I would probably be rooting for Nashville, if they were not playing the PengWins.

Yeah Play-off Hockey!

What is wrong with supporting a 25 year tradition?

Hmmmm...I would not have thought my post was open to misinterpretation, especially since the longest word was only 6 letters....
"classy"
Guess I was wrong.

See, the usual crowd in here are knowledgeable hockey fans and understand that the Stanley Cup is only contested in a North American league, and people root for the own TEAM, not their COUNTRY. But hey, Sid the Kid and Mike Fisher, the two finalists' captains....good American lads, right?

If you want to get all nationalistic, then come on in and crow about how you've smoked us at the Olympics and/or World Championships for the past.....oh, wait....never mind.

Then we'd be talking about a 57 year drought.... :)

If it wasn't for Canada, we wouldn't be playing hockey in the Lower 48. After all, ice hockey originated in Canada starting in the 1800's. And the Stanley Cup was first used in 1893 to honor the Canadian amateur champion.

No, I'm not Canadian. Just being realistic about what Canada has contributed to the sport, namely the sport itself.

Heck, I'm still kind of an "Original Six" snob sometimes - remembering when helmets were optional for the players. Toronto and Montreal were fixtures then, and I don't know how often I've seen the Leafs play. Those two Canadian teams lead the NHL in Stanley Cup wins ... Montreal with 23, and Toronto with 13. Detroit is the closest US team with only 11 wins.

Hockey ain't hockey without the Canadian teams.

Kinda thin skinned aren't we? This is light hearted topic about a game not diplomacy.

This is a prime example when people can't see another's expression when they're typing. That's why we have these to help bring the message across.. :boink::frusty::rofl:

Go Pens! Preds don't stand a chance..............:D

Nothing like June hockey, Nashville should be a mad house Saturday all day to drink and buy catfish.

Preds 2 penalties, Pens 0. Preds killed both PP's.
