Re: Looking for Advice
Hi guys,
Will be glad to meet you all.
I take it we will not start until after 1-9-14.
Why don't we shoot for the first look on either 1-10, 1-11, or 1-12? Fri, Sat, or Sun......
It will help tremendously to have a fully charged battery before we get started, so as soon as you get possession, get a charger on it.
My truck will tow the boat to our work location....so don't go paying someone to move the boat around...etc.
Let's do this at little to NO cost in cash out of pocket....
Please have the students get an understanding of compression testing, as we will be doing that first.
If they could get a basic understanding of the operation of a two stroke motor...even better.
If I understand you right, this will be a learning experience for them too.
If the engine fails compression test (as it probably will) we will be pulling the heads. That is relatively
easy work.
It will be great if we have a compressor for use with air tools. Any chance of that?
We will need a very sturdy, heavy table of some sort. In the past, I have set up some cinder blocks with a pallet on them, and then top the pallet with a piece of plywood. Makes a good sturdy low table to work a powerhead on.
A cherry picker will be needed at least twice. I can bring that if needed.
We will probably need an oxyacetylene torch, too. If so, I can bring that with me. But, if you have all that stuff there, so much the better.
Don't go renting anything.....
I have all the tools we need and will bring them the first time I come up.. Once we see what we have, then we can settle on a work area, and a fixed set of equipment that will not need to be moved back and forth.
We will get it done.
