Fontana lake, nc. Tail of the dragon road (11 miles with 318 corners)on the way. Very remote, trailering not recomended. Nice place to check out though, Topaco lake/dam next to it where "The fugitive" scene at the dam was filmed. Check "Deals Gap, The dragon" web site. Sorry havn't learned to paste links yet.

Lake of the Ozarks - Missouri - 90 miles of lake and over 1200 miles of shoreline. I am surprised that this lake has escaped mention. You can go all weekend and not see the same part of the lake. Also, being a non corp lake you can build on the water and there is plenty of places to gas up and to eat. Also, it has a party cove that is second to none. Nestled in the Ozark Mountains it offers plenty of scenery and I’m not just talkin about party cove. It offers plenty of activities such as boat races, parasailing, poker runs, live music on the water and even fishing tournaments for you anglers. This is my top pick for a lake fun.

Table Rock Lake – Branson MO – Excellent lake and very deep. It is a corp lake and some of the clearest water I have ever seen. In fact, it is a known destination for scuba divers. Plenty to do here as well. A great lake to go to get away for the traffic and craziness that lake and the Ozarks offers. Also, nestled in the Ozark Mountains so the scenery is spectacular. This lake offers 800 miles of shoreline so there is plenty of lake to run around on.

Mark Twain Lake – Northern Missouri. This is a relatively new lake. Good size at 18000 acres. The lake is clear and averages about 30 feet deep. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere but a great lake to get away from it all. It offers great fishing and is a great lake to go camping.

As you can tell I’m from Missouri. So if you are ever in Missouri and you brought your boat, these are some of the best places to go boating.

Lake Bull Shoals and Lake Norfork are also excellent lakes similar to Lake Table Rock. They are both in southern Missouri and lie on the Arkansas border. Very deep and very clear and both are large Lakes as well. I have not had a chance to explore these two lakes.

I am both Fresh and salt water freek, but for the fresh water I would have to choose the (Chain of Lakes) located in WINTER HAVEN FLORIDA. We have I believe 18 lakes all chained together. They keep talking about adding one or more every year. Great Bluegill, Speck, and of course Bass fishing in most all lakes. Beautiful lakes and plenty of scenery.

Where is Lake Don Pedro? And why is it your favorite? [/QB]
Don Pedro is east of Medesto near the Sierras. Huge lake with lots of coves, etc.

I would have to say one of my favorites is Lake Tahoe. Still crystal clear water and a lot to do.

Lake Michigan. We love to spend time cruising, just floating and relaxing and on the beach. For those of you that have not been to Michigan in the summer, you're really missing out. The beaches are some of the best you will find anywhere.

This past summer on the beach:
Any time of the year. But it is nicer in the summer when it isn't so cold and windy. The fish go deeper in the summer, though. At 400' depth down to the bottom ( 630' ) it is a constant 41 degrees. In the winter, the whole lake doesn't go below 41 degrees. All of the lakes in the Finger Lakes Region are fine. Cayuga and Keuka are excellent. And there are some smaller lakes like Conesus that have plenty of fish.

New here. I live about 50 minutes from Lake Winnipesaukee in NH and it's our favorite place to boat. We also boat on the Sebago/Songo River/Brandy Pond/Long Lake chain as well.

Here's Winnipesaukee from the air
Re: LIST YOUR FAVORITE LAKES IN THE U.S.

I have two favorite lakes. Lake Cumberland is #1 for cruising, exploring, lakeview rentals, and big raftups. But, thru the summer we enjoy taking the kids camping. Green River Lake offers great lakeside campsites. My tent is usually 20' from the boat. It's no where near the size of Lake Cumberland though, so there's not as much traffic. Much better for watersports IMO.

I like to fish both lakes also. Cumberland has Striper, and Green River has Musky. Both have decent numbers of all other inland sportfish.

The best part of it all, is that I live almost between the two. 45 minutes from driveway to launch ramp on either lake!

Hey ST, sorry haven't been online for awhile, with work, etc.

Havasu was great. Stayed at the Nautical Inn on the Island. Beached our boat right outside the room:

Here's something different. If you remember the ice fishing scenes in the movie, Grumpy Old Men, those scenes were filmed on Lake Rebecca near Rockford, Minnesota - some 20 miles or so west of Minneapolis. The MN DNR uses this lake as a brooding stock lake for muskies. On a given day, even a poor angler can tie into a half-dozen decent fish. The parking lot only has space for 12 or so trailers, so the lake is never busy. Mostly unknown, rarely fished, this is a gem in the crown jewels of Minnesota fishing.
