List your favorite lakes that you've been to in the U.S.! I am looking for new lakes to explore!

I'd have to say my favorites are Lake Powell - AZ/UT & Lake Don Pedro - CA.

Torch Lake, Northern Michigan. Rated third clearest/beautifal lake in the world. Sand bar like you wouldn't believe. 17 miles long, 3 miles wide, or there abouts...Part of the "Chain of lakes". You can start at one point before Torch, and go through several lakes and rivers, takes all day to go the whole distance and back. Restaurants on the lake, gas on the lake, great fireworks display every 4th of July. Have gone there for the 4th for 6 years in a row now...Git it's name from Indians gathering around the lake, torches lit, and I think (this may be false) they were using the torches to atttract fish towards shore for spearing/fishing...Anyway, go there sometime, you won't be dissapointed. Oh, one more thing, bring your bikininoculars :D

Lake Of The Woods, MN and Ontario.

Spectacular scenery and wildlife, 'Leventy bazillion islands in the NW section to find privacy and shelter among, superb fishing for walleye, smallmouth, northern pike (snakes) and the freshwater king, musky.

It is easy to imagine that you have gone back 300 years in time.

Still lots of big bass, Spinner, but lots of bassrockets, too. I like solitude where I fish.

Same for Leech Lake and Winnibigoshish. Good fishing but too many fishermen.

My favorite is Lake Burton in the northeast Georgia mountains. The oldest power company impoundment in the south, clean and clear with great mountain air. All the benefits of northern type lakes...without the yankees ;)

Well I have to vote for Crystal Lake in northern Michigan with Frankfort on the west end and Beulah on the east. Spring feed and just a beautiful place...but have a place in my heart for Torch Lake as well like golfer said.

Black Lake, Cayuga Lake and Oneida Lake. All in New York. All have a variety of fish. Have had some great days on all three.
