I would try to find a Band/Wrap from a 1968 or 69 motor, even a 70 or 71. Mercs look best with Red. I did that back in 1986 with my 84 115, you can still see the Brown on the lower coverMERC115.JPG

ok, i was looking at something the other day and i noticed labeled blue band and brown band. I figured it was something like that but really forgot about it. my guess is the faceplate is accurate as it is an 82 boat. Assuming someone dropped the band in the water...
from memory (which may be clouded as I am a Highly-Desirable Vintage and Chrome Classic from the 60's

Brown Band is 1984-1985
Blue Band is 1972-1983
Red band is 1968-1971

I think Silver band was before that

then within each there were straights, hockey sticks, etc.

The 9.8 I sold you was identical in the 78-85 years however looked best in the Blue Band decals and worst in the Brown Band

One of my friends from ca came for a visit last weekend. We hit a bar in Boise Friday night. I know the keyboard player in the band that was playing. Got up early and went to CJ Strike and got him the first fish hes ever caught. A 20" rainbow. We managed to catch about a half dozen small mouth on the day.

He brought his moorsickle too. So Sunday we logged about 40 miles.

Sunday afternoon chillin with some nice cold "pain reliever." LOL I was completely wiped out! Babysitting a 50 year old is quite a job.

Hit the lake on Saturday and washed off some lures. Got to keep them clean, you know! This was after the fog started to lift ... yeah, it was real foggy!

Then around 10AM the fog lifted and it was a beautiful day! Who cares that we didn't catch a fish?!?!

Here's Sophie. Our newest addition. We drive to CA (16 hr round trip) to my wife's aunt's to pick her up. She is Bernese Mt dog and standard Poodle. Auntie has the daddy and got pick of the litter.20230714_152812.jpg

And dad, Neo. Hes a handful! Auntie paid $2600 for him. DOH! The neighbor with the mommy and all the puppies were selling them for 1200. I told wifey that we are NOT paying 1200 for a dog. But, we didn't pay anything.
