Okay clearly the switch had the thermal protection in it. It doesn't shut off when it gets to hot anymore. Turns right on and off now. And it gets so hot you can't hold it when your beating on it now. So I guess just let it rest once it gets warm. Good ol new grinder. I am beating it to death. Just make it till the end of this I will get another one for regular use. It is pretty handy.

Okay I did get pics for today. I am concentrating on the huge blobs of mess they left first. I got a before pic of the starboard side as a comparison for the port side i worked on. Port stringer had the blob of fiberglass and it was 8 inches long and at least 5 inches deep around where the stringer was. With alot of dry chopped strand sticking out the sides of it.

Progress is slow but sure here. I am seeing the light tho.

I got yard work to do tomorrow. Hate that. Not really but it does take away from boat work. I got to weed again and trim cut the grass and gardens. Flowers and vegetables are nice but alot of work to. It rained 2 days straight so the grass is going wild again. And the silly weeds are popping up.

And in the fyi dept. The goggles if you are silly enough to use your shirt which is covered in fiberglass dust to clean them. Wow it scratches the snot out of the inside of them. But the rubbing compound and buffer cloth fixed that. So running water take a break and wash up before doing that. Hypothetically of course I wouldn't be stupid enough to do that NOT.

I saw my brothers boat tonight. It actually looks pretty good. Big block and roots blower always helps appearance. I showed him where to drill to check for rot. As far as smacking around on things with a hammer it sounds solid still. It has actual drains in the floor everywhere that go to the bilge area. Little silver look like the bottom of a shower stall round chrome covers. That has got to help. I see those in a few key spots in my boats future. I like it. Fast track to the bilge of the boat for the water no time to sit.

I got my title and trailer registry. I provided the application for title for the trailer. Where it came from it had no title just tags. Here it has a actual title for the trailer to. So he just got to sign and notarize the form and we all good. But the boat is done and correct.

Now if it would quit raining here I could get back to grinding.

Waiting and for the life of me I dont know why. It would be killing me just to put the issue to rest. Good or no.

At first I was skeptical about the way boats are made. Rot, water sitting in non draining parts. The more I work on this hull the better I feel about them. Just got to seal them right. I was grinding the bulkhead tabbing between the skii locker and the under tank area yesterday. Well clearly the tabbing holding the tank floor down and the bulkhead were both leaking. They laid the mat and didn't wet it underneath first just sprayed the resin on top. The whole section of tabbing from skii locker to the motor mount peeled off easily. There was dirt and mold between the tabbing and hull where it had been leaking since new.

The mystery of how the water got in the foam is solved. It seems like they actually built funnels for water to enter critical areas instead of sealing it.

I got to work all day today away from home. So no boat for me. Catching up on threads and having coffee before loading my tools up to go.

I been working along. I got the shop vac 3/4 full of fiberglass dust now. May have to get another grinder soon. I definitely am killing this one.

But the reason for this post is boat porn. I went to my buddies house to look at his honda. see why the front end is hammering on left turns. And while i was there got him to untarp his boat for a pic. 305 Bayliner Capri he bought and owned since new.

It is going there to get the engine put in there. He has a ceiling chain that slides on the rafters. I wouldn't want it there to do what i am doing. It is to handy just going outside to work when I want to. No driving wasting money on gas. Back yard is fine it is under a tree and it is alot cooler than being in that metal building. He did offer to let me tho.

well another forced break. Grinder quit again. Other terminal burned up in the switch. So I rewired that. No guard and no switch now. Just pluf her in and she goes. I found the gaurd was always in the way and I was having to adjust it to much. Works alot better without it. Well back in there beat on the grinder some more.

it was getting so deep in there I had to break down and vacuum. Grinder acts like it gonna make it now. Had to clean the respirator it was kinda getting clogged. Cleaned it out with a wet rag so I could see what was left to do. Kinda doing it bodywork style since you really cant see well with all that dust. Just feel it as you go along. I got some bubbles left to get out.

Keel and go over the port side one more time. Now I am getting the hang of this. Few more sessions I be out of the dreaded bowrider section. No light no room and always laying. It just don't get any better than this.

What is wrong with this picture.

85 degrees. I got the arms to a sweat shirt on. And it looks like it snowed.

I already vacuumed and cleaned twice before this. Slowly making progress. About ready for the other flap disc this one getting kinda thin.

Ain't that dust just grand. It gets everywhere. I literally had to vacuum out the plastic wire wrap of my wiring harness because it was filled with powder.

Dawn dishwashing liquid inside the goggles let dry and buff the residue with a soft cloth. No fog in the goggles for as long as I worked. Best thing I found so far.

I got out of the dreaded bow section today completely. I did the pool of resin they left where the deck didn't meet the hull. To the tune of 2 inches deep and 6 wide on the starboard side. Solid resin no mat at all in that. Got a good day in. I was working the last couple and couldn't do anything.

Pics or it didn't happen. Turned the mess in first pic port side as reference. To what is now just hull on the starboard.

One more of those and I am finished with the ridiculous blobs of glass and mat for no apparent reason spots. Then just normal tabbing for the rest of the duration of my penance in boaters paradise.

If the resin was where it needed to be and not pooled up everywhere. We would have been getting somewhere LOL. I like the starved fibers doing this tho. That stuff comes right up.

I been working right along. I remember when I took the port outer stringer out. It creaked like when you pull a nail out. It had a staple sticking out. Now I know why. I found where the goof balls drove the staple into the hull.

I ground the injury out and tapered it. I will have to put a few layers of 1708 n it when I get the supplies for that. No outer hull damage. Not a big deal just wow really?
