Been reading about floatation foam all morning, kinda freaked out from some of the posts. I found an old review of a 1963 Jupiter in the Boating Jan-June 1963 issue. Super cool! It said that it holds 22.5 cubic feet under the deck, that seem like a lot compared to some of the posts I've read. Off to HD. Any tricks or tips for keeping the channel clear down the middle? Here's the link to the article.

I got 1/2 price foam at HD, the channel issue is no longer an issue. I am installing the deck by Wednesdsy.

It's nice when 'the deck goes in' milestone is accomplished.
I like half price :glee:

Sounds like that end-of-June splash is a possibility! Good deal on the foam board...and great job on the textbook rebuild! :thumb:

The new deck will fit beautifully! I have plenty of thinner foam to fill all the pockets, I can't wait to finish tomorrow.

Oh man you used a utility knife to cut that stuff? I used a skillsaw with the blade turned around backwards and it was still a PITA! Looks like your about to be done with it though and ready to get some decking in. :encouragement:

I cut all my foam with an olfa knife too, I thought it worked great! I just scored it like drywall and snapped it off. Any shaping I needed to do (which was very minimal), I just extended the blade out longer.

Nobody really says anything about the special torture of the pink foam. I'm just hitting the upside of the learning curve! I found the utility knife to be the easiest and cleanest, no crumbs. I scored it and stepped on it between the ribs, worked great! Today was supposed to be my launch, looks like it is not going to happen. Our reservoir is flooded anyway, the ramps are closed. BTW, look in the western sky tonight about an hour after sunset. Jupiter and Venus will be hanging out together, they are the brightest objects in the sky.

Hubby gets all the fun jobs :blue: LOL

Floor looks good, Memphis. Too bad about the missed splash. When you do splash her, it will be all the sweeter, :D
