Hello, New here to the forums. I just traded my Jeep today for a 1992 Sea Nymph fm161. It has a Johnson 60 with three carbs. This motor looks very clean. Everything on the boat works. Here is everything I do when I try to start it.
1. Connect all fuel lines and prime it. (I see fuel in the filter)
2. I put the emergency shut off clip over the choke (He said I was supposed to do this and when I disconnect it, it will die)
3. Open the screw on the tank for air
4. connect the hose to the motor
5. Turn the key
The starter engages the fly wheel and the motor turns fine. I took the spark plug wire off and held it near the metal and it has spark. The guy said he had the carbs redone last year and he is honest, the motor is very clean. Just curious if there is a common problem.
One more thing, no matter how many times I hit the squeez primer it doesn't get hard. Could this be the problem? Thank you in advance for your help.
