Lapping it is a 5 min job. As racerone said only a dab is needed. Done plenty of go kart flywheels. It’s easy peasy. You’ll be fine

Geez,
Finally, was able to get to this. Gosh darn got the flywheel pulled off and it was a battle. Beauty and the beast.....at least confirmed. Thanks to my neighbor Pete doing a holdback and push.
Pin was sheard. I was so looking for that to be part of the problem of not being able to get my idle down.
Take a look at pics and let me know if you see anything out of sorts. Still want to do the DVA testing while I'm in here. Too dark out to review strator/timing wheel tonight.

Sheared pin is always gonna mess with timing. You’ll be able to lap that flywheel in no time flat. Gonna be 50 degree’s in our neck of the woods this weekend. You might be able to sort out the engine this weekend.

Yup looking forward to it and hopefully a resolution. Guys over in Johnson Evinrude engine forum have helped me out a lot.
We're at a cool 28 deg this morning in the sun.

I removed the sheared flywheel key. Generally the areas look clean.
A question came up that do I need to have the flywheel at tdc when I place the key and reset. Comment was in regards to piston positions. Did some research and only found 1 reference to that suggestion.
Thanks guys. I haven't read my manual in this regard. It did peak my curiosity.

The orientation of the crank to flywheel is determined by the key way.

Rotating the crank to locate a piston in a particular location isn’t going to change that

I'm applying new magnets to a new flywheel. I've used OMC epoxy before and it's ok. So my question is are their better epoxies today on the market better or comparable for the same application.
Also wondering about the OMC epoxy production dates for the packages. I can't seem to identify that and it concerns me.
Thanks.

Great Day today. New flywheel key, flipped in a new flywheel and new mags attached. Turned over the engine and dang sooth 1100 rpms out of water on hose.
Gonna dump her in next week to tune up. What a long haul, Thank you Johnson Guys!
