Two of my Israeli nephews were called up to report to their units within 6 hours. They both serve in paratrooper units. One is an officer, the other an NCO. When they get called up,it means that it is about to get real ugly.
Missiles have hit population centers up to 30 miles away from the northern border. This means that Hisbollah has been supplied with longer range missiles than they ever had before.
It seems that the moslem terrorists are trying to vastly increase the size of the current war going on in the middle-east.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Israel to take out Syria and Iran, by that i mean to completely annihilate the infrastructure and military capabilities of these two regional pariahs.

It's going to worse before it gets better. But you already knew this.
Iran and Syria have been openly waging war against Israel and the USA for a long time now.
I just dont understand why most people dont see this.

This scares the he77 out of me . . . I am hopeful that Israel can knock out all of the bullies in their nieghborhood, but the lack of support by the wimps in Europe, Russia and the UN makes me very nervous. I was just trying to explain this to my 13 year old son. It simply blows my mind that a tiny country like Israel, surrounded by people intent on their destruction, is considered the agressor by anyone . . . If people can't see the evil that permeates the thoughts of those who live their lives to kill Israelis and Jews et al, I am truly afraid for all of us.

Thank god we have somebody in the White House who understands.

I agree but me thinks Isreal could use a little more support from the US. Just MO

It never ends does it. I served in this region in 1983 and things started to get better once the UN got things a little more under control. Now it seems all that effort and all those lives were in vain. I doubt there's anything that can be done to change what's happening, I just hope that it doesn't escalate int all out war. All the best to your nephews Rolmops - we're thinking of them and their families.

My prayers for your nephews' safety,Rolmops. I'm very worried about all this too, and feel it may escalate into a global war ,drawing-in China, Korea, Iran, Iraq, America, and others. This outside of the UN, which may try to form a coalition...Too late as always, but enough to cause anarchy fodder.

My support to your family. I have family there too very involved. I believe Israel is going to kick the snot out of them. The Kadima party is in charge.

Funny but we have not heard any more news about Sharron?

Tzahi Hanegbi, chairman of Parliament’s Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee, however, did not rule out the possibility should Palestinian rocket attacks continue, saying “it could also be years”.

Prayers are with your nephews, rolmops. Truly disturbing events. Hope we will do what is necessary to give Israel the support she needs.

I never understood how so much hate can be centered around the birthplace of religion.

It truly is sad.

You are right Ken, how many wars have been fought and people killed in the name of "religion". Best to your nephews Rolmops, they are in my prayers.

I don't think "religion" is the catalyst of this one, guys. It was the capture of two soldiers. But even if it was all in Ala/God's name, man is doing it...

The "*** for TAT" war in that region has been going on since 1948. The latest incident is just another round of killing in the never ending cycle. The weird thing is, the two waring factions are closely related to one another than we think. In fact it is impossible to tell them(original population of Palestine) apart. But yet they are so willing to kill each other. The dividing factor is as old as mankind. Religion.

As noted before, as long as we divide ourselves into groups, conflicts will follow.

I would think Syria and Iran would figure out that if Israel kicked the hell out of Egypt in a rather expedited fashion, they would not feel safe in numbers. Iran and Iraq were at war for years. We beat Iraq in a number of days. Twice.

Remember the Terminator trilogy? In the end, the end of the world came anyhow. I'm beginning to feel a frustration like that. :(

To build on Gandhi's thought, a Death for a Death only makes the whole world Dead.

Get yourself right with your God. Thing's certinly ain't getting better day by day, are they?

GQ,

Your sense of moral equivalency is non-existent. Just ask yourself two questions. If Hamas or Hezbollah or Syrian backed anything or Iran backed anything stopped threatening Israel with suicide attacks, soldier kidnapping etc, would Israel stop reacting militarily? Or if Israel stopped using force completely would the others simply leave them alone?

That little excercise might put this in better focus for you . . .

I must say, the Kamikaze Drone is an interesting twist. I wonder if Armageddon will reach us here, or just wipe out the Middle East.

QC, you got me all wrong. I wasn't trying to show "moral equivalency". There is no such thing as "moral equivalency" in my opinion. And I am very much against any "group" that kills to achieve a political objective. Certainly, the two groups you mentioned above are just that but who am I to say. My opinion is bias from the other person stand point. Anyhow I was just simply responding to 12 post. I think, we should not fuel the fire but help put it out. So thought I'd give a bigger picture rather than a snap shot. The more we know, the less likely we are to kill each other. I strongly believe, education is the only cure for all man made conflicts. Ignorant and war go hand in hand. And yes, I am familiar with the conflict all too well. Half of my family are Jewish. Not to mention many years of schooling.

I think you need to re-read the Good Book Willy!
