I am in the process of installing a rebuilt powerhead on a 1998 evinrude 115. It has been an educational experience and now I see why boat repair shop said it would cost too much. Lots of things get stuck. I am currently stuck on the steering connection at the base of the powerhead. There is a connection at the forward base of the powerhead where two bolts screw into a connector with rubber for isolation. I have to get this piece out so I can transfer it to the new powerhead. I removed the single screw that holds it in place but now I can't get the unit to come out of the old powerhead. Any suggestions for how to get it loose?
