Welcome to iboats.
There should be nothing to take off at the powerhead.
Remove the trim tab above the prop.
Remove the bolt that is hidden up in the trim tab pocket.
Then remove the 4 bolts on the sides of the lower unit.
The shift rod is splined, and should slide apart as the lower unit is dropped down.
