if ya look on tha block kinda right behind tha bend in tha timin' arm there's gonna be a "build" date.. m/d/yr.. 1/8" numbers.. might be hard ta see but its there.............

those type cowls came out in '89... who ever did tha cowl bungies, vents, decals did a GOOD job!
All numbers seem to match up with each other. Everything I look up says 1982 xr2 marathon magnum. He probably lost the lid and had to replace it at some point. I can definitely tell he was a tournament fisher because there’s tons of waypoints set in both graphs for about every lake in Tn..

who knows honestly . I’ll just order parts for 82 xr2 and cross my fingers . As of rite now it’s pumping water fine .Just want to be safe. As long as it starts idles and runs I don’t care how fast or slow it may be. I just want to fish. Plus my grandson is driving me nuts wanting to hit the lake so hopefully we will get too run it next weekend . Iv been without a boat for about 2 years now so I’m overdue .

jan.. i don't think tha actual XR2 designation came till '85 for production but some merc manuals and parts list include that badge for earlier year 2.0 motors of almost generic parts between both 150's ('87 being last year of tha XR2).. thats why its good ta nail down tha production year................

I don’t run mine hard anyways . But I have got 2 different answers about the max rpm though. Some said all older merc 150s were 5500 and some said the xr2 was 6000 either way I’ll prolly stay in the 5-5200 range at most . Too many wake boats around here that ride around with ballast full too air one out for very long anyways .
