Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Nice to see you are back oops. Missed the updating, although I was gone all last week to Lake Michigan. Spent the week with the family in South Haven. Had a good time and seen lots of skin on the beach.

Off topic, but I used to live in South Haven...nice place to be boating.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Hello, Im knew to the forum and have read all the post about your project. All I can say is just awesome wish I had that kind of talent.
Im trying to do a project of my own, not near as complicated as yours. I have a bass boat that Im trying to replace the carpet on and Im having a very hard time removing the old. I see you use acetone to clean your work so that tells me it wont damage the fiberglass, but do you know if it will hurt the jell coat? I own a business creating mascot?s and use acetone quite a bit to remove glue etc, so Im familiar with it. Im just not sure if it will soften the jell coat.

Thanks and keep the photos coming.

welcome.......i dont have any talent....just pig headed stubborn ness :D

the acetone will not hurt gellcoat as it evaporates quickly.

getting carpet up is a pita !

i just pulled, ripped and scrapped....(if you need...you can get a carpet scraper from a rental shop..the remaining glue....if the aceitone wont get it. i grinded it off

hope that helps

cheers oops

Ah, you needed a respite from the boat anyway. Get your gills cleared out so you can really get the work done like you have been. I'm not allowed to work on my boat until that basement is done, but it doesn't stop me from lifting the cap back off and pulling the hull of the boat around to the side of the house :D It's funny, I can lift the back of the boat up by myself, and push the boat with little effort back and forth on these trex bunks without the cap on! I might need some water saturated foam in the bottom to keep the thing upright, I think all the weight is up top!

He finally got the Bliner running strong last week so I don't expect him to be doing anything except bobbing on the waves on Kal and draining C's. :D

Oh no's he don't...we gotta keep the fire under his feet, can't quit now! :p

At this rate, I'll have that bedroom sheetrocked before he gets the boat done! ( all the pieces are up, it's all joint work and mudding now! I'll be working on my boat come early August at the latest! ;)
