how to change thermostat??

hey guys, 1984 evinrude 9.9. got everything put together on this motor. In my rush to get it done i forgot all about changing thermostat, Now that its together how in the HECK can i change that thermostat without removing powerhead?? Thanks

No just the head you will also need a new head gasket

yeah i just go home and looked at it. What is the best way to get to the lower bolts on the cylinder head. cuoldnt seem to get a socket on there? Thanks

thx racerone i just looked at it. looks a little tricky on the bottom two bolts?

You will need a box wrench to get those off. I have gotten those out with out pulling the head. I use 2 putty knives to push the spring in then you can pull the water jacket straight out. But it is tricky and clearances can be a problem
