how much oil in gear box

i have a jonhson 25 hp motor how much gear oil do i need to put in, do i feel it to the all the way full or what thanks

Add from bottom hole until it comes out of top hole. Fill 'er up!

Pump oil in the bottom hole until it starts to come out the top hole, replace plugs, oil level is just right. Don't over fill, need room for expansion. Good Luck!

My 150 takes 33 ounces. I'm sure one 32 ounce bottle will be ample. Buy the good stuff.

The manual says 8.3 ounces, "Drain and refill every 100 hours of operation or once each season, whichever occurs first." Page 1-50; manual #394607.

One little tip:

when you see oil run out the top hole, put the plug in tight and you won't loose any oil when you remove the filler hose from the bottom.
