I believe it is banned to have alcohol on your boat in Alabama.

No alcohol is not banned? So, it's okay to have no alcohol? :D

Oh, you mean: "No, alcohol is not banned."

Here's the kind of boater that scares the hell out of me. He obviously doesn't have a clue about how to drive.

In my rig 50mph is a comfortable cruising speed. Believe it or not it handles whitecaps on an inland lake the best at 45mph. You'll still get bounced around but at least you'll stay dry and it's pretty stable. Like said above it's all about knowing your rig and having what it takes to drive it safely. On a windy day it's just plain dumb to top out a bass boat since I've seen plenty try to come over on people.

What's wrong with the way he's driving? Looks like a guy playing around with an overpowered boat to me. No big deal, he's not hurting anybody, nobody but him on the boat and not another boat or person in sight. If he enjoys it, more power to him. Why does it bother you?

He just looks really shakey but you're right. He does seem to be the only one out there and that's better than being on a busy lake or river when learning a fast boat. I used to be shakey too but get more and more confident with every trip. Still prefer to be one of the only boats out there. Nothing like making a wide open run longways across a lake when it's smooth as glass.

While I agree that he doesn't look very experienced, I sure wouldn't be scared of him. Jet skiers and wake boarders worry me more....

That's really fantastic.

I think you're paranoid...

Completely agree. If I wanna go fast, I take on that responsibility. Ya know, I had to pay an extra $2000 to have a fence put up when I had my pool built, and had to put sirens on all my doors and windows due to some moronic Government regulation. Why am I being punished monetarily due to some other idiots negligence?????

Fences around pools seem to be a pretty common requirement. I think the legal term is an 'attractive nuisance'

Sirens on your windows? Whats that all about?

Sorry about the hijack!

This is a very energetic and interesting thread. I find it very interesting to see the opinions and thoughts. We all have our reasons for boating and being on the water and enjoying our time there but I think the overall jist of the posts is that we all need to be responsible for ourselves and consider how what we are doing will affect others including not just the others on the water but in our own boats. My time on the water is awesome and being safety cautious and enjoying ourselves is key. Let's just all be responsible!

Did some joyriding this afternoon. The mechanic that rebuilt my fishing buddy's powerhead was leading him around the lake at strategic speed intervals while he rode his wife around. My buddy was riding his wife, friend, and daughter around in the 18' Stratos. I put $20 worth in my tank and let er rip. Havn't just went riding in a while so it was a nice feeling. Need to bring the motor a little lower on the place since when it hits that last step the nose drops like a brick but she's just about dailed in. Chargers are the most finnicky boats for dailing in we've ever seen. Right now it's rock steady on the last step with the exception of the nose dropping. Just thought I'd share:DAll the while I was ultra responsible and stayed a safe distance from the "slow train" while showboating and passing them like they were tied up:cool:The scary part is the boat with the fresh 150hp powerhead will most likely run with mine after it's broke in and 24 pitch Raker redone:eek:

my 1991 corolla with a 1.5 four banger can do 110...don't ask how i know, was it smart? No. do people do it anyway? yes!
theres no reason why these people should have been going this fast on a crowded lake. reminds of me of the typical rich, inexperienced 20 somethins with huge jetboats NEVER even heard of rules of the road let alone know them. too much money too little common sense
