Re: How cold...

We are just starting to get to cool water here in NC and my kids have been spoiled with the lake at 90 degrees the whole summer. Last weekend it was about 72 degrees and the water temp was 70. My daughter and her friend both skied a bit, and then for the last run, my daughter tried on her new wet suit because the sun was down and the wind was cold. I bought her and my son full wetsuits. I figured it wasn't worth messing with the shorty ones at this point... if its cold enough to put one on, then why not be completely covered. The water temp is down to 65 but its supposed to be 80 today. They may look silly, but I expect they are going to want to try out the new suits. We'll see. Its encouraging that someone here said they skied every month of the year in NC. We'll have to try that.

Yep, keep it coming you crazy bugger.

We're doing some Canadian Thanksgiving weekend boating tomorrow. I know I'll go in the water, but I'll likely be the only one! It's supposed to be around 68 - 70F, and the water will be in the 50s.

In the north here (more so even in Canada, eh?) we have these nice long days in the summer. Now with less daylight it's harder to fit the skiing in. :( We skied thursday evening at sunset. The follow morning Friday at sunrise. Then again at sunrise again this a.m. Water 61. Air 56 and rising, put on the shorty and went for it.

I think cool water skis better. Like the ski holds and carves more aggressively. Maybe I'm just skiing hard to keep warm.

Here is a classic shot of my buddy Dave back in 2003. When the boat has almost no wind shield and it's a cold day in November, he figured he should break out some of his SNOW ski gear....

Well actually, when the water is colder the surface tension co-efficient increases proportionately with our gravitational constant and the elevation at which.....a screw it...I'm an engineer but it's too damn early for this bullsh**t.

Re: How cold...

Great pictures. Wish I had some of my buddy starting off the ice at Lake Desmet. Been years ago but just got a boat and been for my first pulls in years. Sorry, forgot how much I loved to ski. Golfing lately. Not as big a hardcore anymore but did ski last Sunday instead of going hunting :). Gotta love Wyoming. Football, mountains and waterskiing the same day.
