Aldo and Bassy. I worked for a very large school district at one time. The loyalty is for keeping secrets on who is skimming or sleeping around. Those types of things. I personally have nothing good to say about the school system that we have today. Maybe if they could get the damn union out of it, then we might have a chance.

I really don't know why Loyalty is the more important of the two. My district in Union. This specific district I'm talking about is Non Union. Its one of those you-really-have-to-know-someone kind of districts. I could guess why the Loyalty and that is pretty much as Samagee has pointed out; to keep all those dirty little secrets so it looks squeaky clean, even though everyone knows its not. I was just surprised is all. Nice thread it turned out to be. Love that about iboats members. I can get a well rounded view on pretty much any subject. Excellent!
Bassy

Pointer,
I couldn't agree more about the union garbage. Only if anything ours is worse. (I belong (unwillingly) to CSEA which is for classified staff (non- credentialled). Part of the AFL-CIO. The stuff they send me is not liberal, it is outright socialist. (Now will I be visited by a big ugly guy in a nice suit whose name is Guido?) Our local group is OK, but the regional and State levels are blatant crooks, IMO. While my district isn't perfect, it is actually a very decent district to work for. I'm fortunate.

Bassy, I don't know which district, but I have seen that sort of thing in other public sectors. Most likely they have already decided who they want to hire, but are still interviewing just to keep a pretense of fairness and legality. You have too much class for an outfit like that. BTW, this was a good thread you started.

I think I'd be highly distrustful of anyone inferring that there has to be a choice between the two.

Re: Honesty or Loyalty?

:) What do Unions have to do with Loyalty????

Unions only protect those that don't want to do their share of the work !!!!!

And when it comes to city and state unions there only loyalty to the city or state is how many more sick days could they accumulate and get paid for!!! And if we put accumulated sick days and vacation days together, their only Loyalty would be to come to work for only 6 months a year!!! ;)
