Hello new to the forum and just got myself a pre 72 Lund and I am curious what's the best way to fix the crack along the keel and replace all the wood below deck... Havnt taken anything apart yet but deck is quite soft IMG_20210906_113311.jpgIMG_20210906_113327.jpgIMG_20210906_110933.jpg

I wouldn't so much about the keel issues yet. It all begins with a total rehab meaning remove floor, stringers etc. Keel is last part of the fix.
Probably remove cap and set boat in a cradle.

Will start from the inside then and work out thanks you.

Our boats are pretty similar all though I did not have that kind of extensive damage you can check out my forum to see what it looks like underneath the carpet/wood. Is your floor soft?

The floor is somewhat soft but firm enough I don't worry about stepping through the floor sorta speak.. like I can jump in it stomp my foot down but just has alittle give... But was left out for years with no cover and previous owners used the boat while it had the crack so I'm planing for the worst 😅

I'd say its gonna get pretty ugly. Is the motor in good working condition? thats where you will save a lot of money. Be sure you check the transom to. Haha good luck prepare to get itchy!

if your floor is soft, its rotten.

if the floor rotted, the stringers and transom have long ago rotted

Obviously if you like the boat, and don't mind getting seriously dirty, smelly, itchy and all that comes from rebuilding it, than by all means jump to it and get demolition on the way... But before starting anything, take TONS of pictures and measurements of everything you possibly can and sketch them on some sort of computer program or a nice sketchpad. It will absolutely come in handy during the rebuild... JMHO Been there and done that!

You have been given the best advise thus far from some the Top Shelf members on this forum.
The only thing I would add.
Don't loose hope after you start.. this is ALOT of long, nasty/itchy, hard, work ahead, and it will not be cheap, but its cheaper than a new boat.
If you take time and do better work than original, You will have a much better boat than original.(and it will last longer if you take care of it)
You will also know about every inch of your vessel. (No surprises later)
Don't forget about family.
Best O luck.
