Pardon me, Grant S...but do I hear a New Zealander attempting to lecture me on American politics? <br /><br />Now, if you wish to apply the strictest definitions, you may be technically correct...but American liberalism is a philosophy with a marxist bent. We use the term "socialist" in the same way. The end result is all the same with the democrats---your money ends up in someone else's pockets, whether or not the means of production are siezed, whether or not private property is disallowed...catch my drift?<br /><br />Much of what happens in American politics is marxist inspired, and particularly when it comes from the left side of the aisle. It's (almost) always some scheme to redistribute the wealth, punish those who are climbing into the upper class, or otherwise promote class envy.<br /><br />Perhaps "marxist" is too specific a term...maybe marxists proper are only under the same umbrella as the American left, but there are indeed marxists in America, and many can be found within the democratic party...as are collectivists, communitarians, communists, socialists, and a few other species of leftists.<br /><br />I think I have a quite decent education, thank you very much.<br /><br /><br />-dd-
