Assuming your running Win2k or WinXP, another thing that could be happening is a stop error (blue screen of death). There is a setting in system properties that can be checked that will reboot the computer when there is a stop error. You can disable this setting so you can view the stop error.

Control Panel---------->System
Go to the Advanced Tab
Click settings where it says Startup and Recovery

In the Startup and Recovery properties in the middle of the page uder where it says System Failure uncheck the box next to "Automatically Restart".

If the box is already unchecked the system isn't experiencing a stop error.

I've run into the leaking cap problem on 'not so cheap' motherboards too! Abit was one of the first manufacturers to have the problem. I've replaced the caps on more than one board with success. If you replace the caps with Low ESR types. You need a soldering station and some soldering skills. Replacing the caps is a lot cheaper than replacing a MB, if you have the soldering skills.
