Hatch Leaky

[Doral Citation 260]

Have a Doral Citation 1987 - 26 footer. Issue is the hatch may have been leaking for a while....now it leaks like crazy when it rains.

How best to repair....getting different ways from several mechanics. Some say, it will always leak. Some say re and re with the same BOMAR hatch, Some have said buy a new one...only way to stop the leak.

Any suggestions how to fix this....it is in great shape and works great....but started to leak near the top.

Arrrgh, lost my post. I don't buy the "it will always leak". I do think you can pull the old one, clean everything up and put it back in if it is in good shape. If there are any issues with the old one then you need a new one. Make sure the surrounding area is solid. Since it's plastic, most of these are poly carbonates, this is the only place that silicone is actually recommended on a boat. Polyurethanes like 4200 and 5200 don't bond well to all plastics.
