Assuming your going to drill straight down for lag bolts.

Have front motor mounts installed on motor with center bolt finger tight. Lower motor in place and install rear mount bolts in place. Lift front of motor back up slightly and position mounts and raise center bottom nut until they both just touch the bottom of the mount.

Would help to know what kind of boat, and what the holes are you're planning to drill into your new stringers. A bit more info might actually allow folks to help you...

The rear bolts that thread into the transom plate will align the motor from side to side.

Purchase an alignment bar to ensure your height is perfect, otherwise you’ll fight getting the driveshaft in and potentially ruin the coupler. You can get them from iBoats. See below.

Buy one of these tools as you should be checking your alignment every year or so when you pull the drive For maintenance checks.

Raise and lower the mounts equally on each side until the bar slides in fully, easily. A little grease on the alignment bar will help you determine how to adjust by reading the spline marks.

Once the bar fits perfect, mark the holes. You may need to lift the motor back out to ensure the holes are straight. Torque the rear mounts to 35 - 40 ft lbs. The hardware is assembled as follows.

Good luck.
