Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

The thing that gets me is most people either do not proof their ads or the just don't care.

I mean if I was trying to sell my boat I would put as much descriptive information in the ad as possible. I would also put as many pictures as I could with the ad. I am a boating Newb I don't claim to know everything, I in fact have much to learn about boats. To me this is a hobby that I can get into and my family gets to reap the benefits over the long term albeit it is an expensive one.

I understand there are people out there that have owned or own boats that just don't know what they got from the technical aspects. Just like people buy cars you ask them what kind of motor they got in it and they cant even tell you. The just give you a blank stare and say ummmm i dunnow but it has a lot of power or some such nonsense.

At least make an effort. Geesh pull out the owners manual or something do a little bit of research about your specific boat make sure you have the terminology and technical details correct. Write your ad like you actually graduated from high school and know how to form a complete sentence and spell correctly.

At east the guy that I am talking to about his boat had the guts enough to tell me what he thought was wrong with it told me that it is definitely a little bit of a project boat and that he would try and start her up for me. After finding out that it wouldn't start he took it to the shop to have them install a new starter and give her a mechanical once over for me. The guy even gave me the name of the shop that he took the boat to.

I told him all I wanted was something that was functional and had a good transom and that I didn't mind giving the boat some attention in the area of seats, floors and even motor or out-drive in the future as long as she gave me a few seasons of good running fun.

I mean what can I expect out of a $2,000 boat.

Whoops, I confused the trailers. That actually looks like the worst trailer ever. Still could be a great project hull though (but for less money now I suppose).

being a deck boat, it may be rated for 8-10 people... but that doesnt mean you should put 10 adults in it... probably would be waaay over the weight rating.

1957 Pipestone repainted to a gorgeous magenta and cream finish. New upholstery, seats, new everything but the motor! The motor runs some days, some days not. I am tired of trying to futz with it so I am letting her go. The trailer is included and you must pick up the boat. The boat is at our cabin but for a delivery fee we can maybe work something out if you're closer to the Twin Cities area. This puppy is worth A LOT with the motor in better condition. Maybe you can turn my loss into your gain. Email and serious inquiries only. Don't low ball the price. It's worth what it's listed for.

Photos coming after this weekend! The photo below is very similar to the boat, except mine doesn't have a bimini cover or horn mounted. And the windshield on mine is cracked.

Yeah, I'll pay 3200 for a boat that has a cracked windshield and a questionable motor...but I'll get my money back by reselling it if I get the motor running! Don't walk to this one, Run! Run with fists full of cash! :D

Wow that's a real winner. Pic isn't even of his boat! Definitely a case of an extra zero.

Them there seats look a little close to the deck, I wonder how many layers of 3/4" plywood it's got?

I went to look at a boat today, the best comment the guy made was that the boat had 4" of plywood on the floor, he bragged that he added a new layer every season. "After all, nothing floats better than wood", and on top of that comment, "With all that wood, its unsinkable".
