Those Corvette Malibu's are really nice but you could buy a much nicer boat and a real (used) Z06 corvette for that kind of money. I wonder what kind of return on investment you might get 20 years down the road if you bought that thing and kept it in storage the whole time?

Boats are a depreciating item, and only the very rare, very few select would ever hold the value, let alone increase. Heck the cost to insure would most likely kill any increase in value if you just parked it for 20 years. Buying a boat thinking it will go up in value is not a wise choice, typically. Only one of my 8-9 boats was sold for more than I paid, the rest went the other way.

Did you see the boat scipper is talking about? (honest question not being condescending). If it is 1 of 25 ever made (as the seller states) it does have potential to go up in value - in my opinion of course and this is a highly debatable topic.

Malibu is a brand with high resale (at least in my region), Corvette name on it, limited production engine, very limited production hull and engine package. It's got a lot going for it.

While I agree most modern day boats will never appreciate, if there every was one, this could be it. Of course buying it right is the real key, I'll be honest when that link got posted on here I thought about buying that as an investment.

While I agree that this is a rare boat, it's not clear to me that it was worth anywhere near $125K when new. Sort of like a signed print from an artist...if the artist was Picasso it's worth a lot, if the artist was me - not so much.

Well a quick check on the ol' internet, Boat Trader specifically has a Brand new one of these, (an '08 holdover), but still new for $72,500, and a 1997 model for 23,995. It doesn't look like they hold their value all that well, and he is definitely asking to much since you can buy ythe exact same model, but brand new, for less.

This marine dealer has a 2008 Limited for $60,000. http://www.bakesmarine.com/vette/

Looks like the current owner bought it thinking it was going to be an investment as well, however a quick check on the internet says that it anything other than an investment, and more a normal boat that the resale drops as soon as you roll it off the showroom floor, no matter how many bells and whistles it has.

The ad states power windows.... does anyone see windows on that boat?

In the Denver one you can see the port window is rolled down about half way the starboard (drivers) window is rolled all the way up.

I agree with you on this one. I posed the question about buying this as a collectors piece because I know with use the depreciation would be out of this world. I was trying to wrap my mind around why anyone would want to spend that kind of money on a boat that would be used just like a comparable 20,000 used boat. The cool factor is not worth that much unless you could get a good return in the future (imho)
