$200 FIRM
NICE LITTLE FISHING BOAT
I've got a late model 14' fishing boat need's love but it has no leaks and is feady for fishing as is. We have used it on Stansbury lake for the last couple years and it's been a lot of fun but I just dont have the room for it any more. It comes with trailer and tows great it doesn't weigh hardly anything and could probably be towed with a moped. if interested please leave a message on my home phone or email me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for looking

Yeah... I don't think the phrase "Late Model" means what he thinks it does...

We all get a grin from these ads, but I thought I'd just post a quick reminder of why we 'really' scan the CL ads.....

The ad I saw last week said "Old wood plank boat, good condition but engine needs some work, $500". There were no pictures, but it wasn't far away, so I called the guy, who told me it was about a 25' Chris Craft. Over I went to take a look.

I found a 1965 27' Chris Craft Cavalier. Rock solid throughout, in a covered slip. The work that the engine needs is the broken throttle cable replaced. Engine - a Chris Craft 283 - starts first turn of the key and purrs like a kitten. Paragon transmission slips in and out of gear without a hitch. The trim tabs are seized, but the motors run. There's one small area of rot inside the cabin - the bottom frame of the port cabin window, about a 12" section has dry rot. An extended period in the bilges with an awl found no soft spots anywhere. The deck's been covered with a really ugly rubberized non-slip paint with sand in it, but peeling a bit of it up reveals that it was applied over the original vinyl.... fingers crossed it's in good shape.

In fact, I may have a look at this one and bargain it if I'd be closer. Would make a nice starting point for a vintage resto if the engine proove to be in running condition. Cool little boat, and he got me with the Elvis comment!

Sounds like a nice find

Best I got was a nice trolling motor like that, it had a really bad cell phone picture, and a really poor description... but I decided why the heck not..

Got there and I found a late 70's merc 9.8hp model 110 in decent cond for $40.

I did a quick check and found little oil in the engine but seemed solid enough.

Some work, found it needed a new pump housing, and a new headcover gasket (had overheated and cooked the gasket).

Now it's one smooth running little $40 engine, but I did need to adjust the fuel air mixture to clean up the idle...

and to think I almost decided to not go see it :)

Small boat trailer
Small boat trailer - $700 (morgan hill)
Very little used boat 2004 trailer that was used to tow a 14ft aluminum boat. We never use it and the boat is upside down to protect from elements. Paid $1700 for the trailer. $700 firm. Serious inquiries only please.

Wait, what? You are selling a boat trailer and these are the only pictures you provide?

Somehow I hope the boat is included although the ad suggests it's the trailer that's for sale.

1970 SLICKCRAFT SS-204 W/ TRAILER

at first I was thinking, hey, the trailer is worth $650 but something about the pictures struck me as odd. Then I realized that the wheels are only 4 lug. I've never seen a tandem axle trailer with 4 lug wheels before.

Hmm. Sorta my neck of the woods. I'll run right out... On second thought, maybe not.

Do you think there is a reason they don't show the outdrive? Buick engine? 4 lug wheels. I don't know very much about boats, but this one seems like a collection of unusual (ie difficult to maintain and repair) stuff.
