Re: Funny "TLC needed" boat ads on Craigslist.

I tend to look at craigslist pretty much daily looking for repairable boats I can fix and resell. Lately I've began using "CraigsList Helper" as it helps me sort through ads all around me.

Some of the ads are hillarious, some are born out of ignorance, and some well I have no idea what they are doing. "

i told some person i was going to be posting a copy of the add they had on this link!!. I would have posted it up (died laughing), but when i went to do so i noticed my threat was well received, the add was changed to say "BIG PROJECT ALLOT OF WORK".. this satisfied me deeply, Thanks for this thread Bubba!!

I just bought a 88 Bayliner Capri 1950 off craigslist in February. The pics looked so good I thought it was a scam. The man who owned it had died last November and his sons were selling it. They were honest that the dad had hit something the last time he was out, bent the prop shaft, and had paperwork where a marine center had checked out the engine. Good compression but the carb would flood. I got it for $1000 and replaced the carb, exhaust and a new prop shaft. I will have about $3500 in it for repairs, but the interior looks brand new, also new steering wheel and all new gauges.

So I had a couple beers, looked at this posting and giggled a little. A bit of fantasy popped into my head about calling this poor fella and straightening him out. An old tri-hull, minus trailer and motor and his admittedly knowing nothing about the shape of the deck or transom (inside floor, I mean) and asking $250 for it. The cutting edge paint scheme is worth something, but....

However, I popped over to his Houston area CL to do a little research for my fantasy Economic Theory Beatdown. After a couple minutes I began to wonder if he might have a competitive price. Case in point:

(In fairness he re-posted 3 days later with a slightly smaller price tag, more info, and omitted the photos of the garbage bag collection):facepalm::facepalm:
