I can not keep the motor running unless I prime the bulb every 10-15sec. The gas tank vent is open, is this a good sign that my fuel pump is out?

Yep. That or a leaky connection from tank to fuel pump.

Kbait means you could have an air leak into the fuel line, at the tank or primer bulb.

or connector at motor, or connection to fuel pump. You'll usually see gas seeping out when squeezing the 'hard' bulb if you have an air leak somewhere..

Re: Fuel pump problem.

It can also be defective check valves in the fuel hose from the tank.

If you have another fuel hose give it a try. If you don't or this is not your problem you can disconnect the fuel line to your carb and pull the starter rope (make sure you disconnect your spark plugs so it doesn't start up) and see if fuel is pulsating out that end. If it isn't it just confirms a fuel pumping problem. Now disconnect the line to the fuel pump at the motors connector. Put that hose into a jar of fuel and pull the starter rope again. If no fuel pumps then it is a fuel pump problem. If fuel now pumps it is a fuel hose, tank or fuel line air leak problem.

Re: Fuel pump problem.

Well I finally got around to taking the fuel pump off the motor. I took it apart and found a hole in the diaphram big enough you could stick the end of a Q-Tip through it. lol. I ordered a new pump and a carb kit and got all that put back on. Going out to try it tomarrow should work fine.

Thanks again guys for all the help :)
