read my "edited" post....................Not even a big can?
Loosened block halves a bit and pried out."Only other thing I did was replace the top end cap o ring about a month ago."
with what procedure did do you do this??? did you "losen up" tha block halves to replace tha o-ring or did you just remove tha 4 bolts holdin' it and pry tha cap out?
really makes no difference.. ya have something wrong and it needs ta be found out... pull it and take it apart.............. could be a bearing, could be a sealin' ring ya don't know!
figured that.. its almost a must on 'em............ if they jus pry out without touchin' tha block half bolts tha cap is usually junk ta start with......Loosened block halves a bit and pried out.
think he tried that Faz.. says no change...Drop the gearcase. and retest..
I did try that. Its still out. Didn't get a chance to work on last night, son had a track meet. Will get back to it this evening and post some pics and an update. I really appreciate the help from you all.think he tried that Faz.. says no change...
Here is link to a few pics and short videosWill do this evening. The drag was still there but the more I turned with ratchet seemed to let up so I thought I would try cranking with flywheel only. Sorry about that.
That never crossed my mind. Pulled it this evening and all are accounted for. This thing is driving me nutsIt got a bearing down internally, you didnt knock out a roller when you reinstalled the top cap? If so this is on top of crank throw
Drag has gone away. Took back out today and after about an hour, fried another stator. I am lost. My only guess it crank shaft bearing letting flywheel move a little? No movement I can feel, but...That grinding escenario showed up recently after a long motor stop if that's the case while was running strong before ?
Tilt motor fully up, remove spark plugs, squirt an overdose of 50:1 fuel oil rtio inside each cylinder, let it soak/penetrate for some minutes, spin the flywheel slightly back and forth several times. If the issue cancels out, thumbs up. If the grinding noise continues surely any of the internal rotating parts such as bearings are shot due to poor lubrication or the motor went diving with previous owner which you don't know anything about...

Was hoping to avoid that, but I do agree. Will be my first time doing this. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated. Unless you want to come to WV and show me how. Lol. Thanks again for your helpTime to tear the whole block appart and visually check what's going on...

Couldn't find help. Got it tore apart. One of the crankshaft bearings was trashed. Bad part is, it rubbed a hole in back of case. Got parts ordered. Are there any oil ports or anything I need to check? The reassembly should be interesting. Lol.Thanks for the invitation to WV but my tearing experience is reduced to max 3 cylinder motors and yours is a 150 HP one. Try to disgnose, asolate where is the grinding noise taking place before tearing it appart. Get someone to tear it for you while watching, it's the fastest learning curve ever. Good Luck!!

Yep. Was hoping not, but...See post #7 for reference.
"I told you so." would have worked here LOLSee post #7 for reference.
