Make sure it a 135/150 2L block early style. Also mike the cylinders as dont want to put together in a worn block. How bad is crank journal from treashed bearing?
Will verify. Looks like everything else is OK. Any steps to verify anything while it's apart? Going to replace all bearings in crank.

Got back together. Complete rebuild including carbs. New gas lines, used 5/16. Took out and ran low rpms for about 4 hours. Did great. Took out yesterday and ran a little harder. After running at higher rpms for a bit and then going back to idle, go back to wot and only get to about 2k rpm. Let idle for a while will run normal again. Newer to site, so if I should start new thread, please let me know. Thanks again for all the help.

When breaking these engines in, you vary the RPM by about 1000rpm, after running it at 4000 for a couple of minutes, drop back to 3000-3500 for 5 minutes then go up again, I wouldn't go to Idle right after WOT, not on a new engine. Your engine has an Oil Mixing System, but Mercury used to recommend running 50:1 premix for the first 10 hrs(the break-in period)
