fish accident

i hit a stingray or dolfin, not sure? but after lost power. i do have slow speed of about 1-2 knots. does the lower unit have a bering or something that would break like a safty device that i could check? need advice .THANKS EASTES. ITS A EVINRUDE 115 HP 1993 OUTBOARD

Sheer pin is designed to fail in the event that the prop strikes an object that pushes back.

My buddy used to break them all the time on his 25hp outboard.

That motor does not have a shearpin. It does have a rubber hub, which gives if you hit something. it the motor revs up, but speed stays slow, it is likely the prop hub is bad. A prop shop or new prop will fix it up.

This is a different prop, but demonstrates what is in there. The rubber tears loose from the brass hub, then it slips.

Around here, people say they hit a gator.
