After reading different threads about transom replacement. No one has mentioned how to finish the top edge?Would you just wrap it with fiberglass, then fill in between it and outside edge of the hull with a sealant? Not sure, some I've seen including mine have a trim to screw on.But isn't that a place for water to find and start the whole process of rot again? At least that's where mine started.Any thoughts?dude11

Welcome to iBoats!
You got it. Glass and resin. Use Peanut Butter (Check OOPs site page 76 for recipe) to glue down your trim cap then predrill your holes, coat your STAINLESS screws with epoxy and screw them home. Usin this method will make it last longer than the way it came from the factory.

Good Luck with your project

I'm with you. After my refurb, I'm not replacing the aluminum trim on the transom...which in my case appeared to be there only to hide the gap between the cap and the transom. Instead I did a 3 or 4 rounds of epoxy peanut butter and sanding to fill the gap and build up the edge, to be followed by paint:
