I have a fiberglass jon boat that I picked up at the end of last summer that I want to have fixed up before spring any help on how to fix some spots and how to smooth it out would be good.

Is this another boat? The one you posted a picture of here http://forums.iboats.com/boat-resto.../deck-fiberglass-boat-637989.html#post4489731 is not a Jon boat. If you are talking about the same boat please try to keep your work in a single thread.

OK yes sorry it is the same boat and it is fiberglass and when I try to look it up (because I'm unsure what kind of boat it is ) when I look up fiberglass jon boat the pictures that come up look like the boat that I have I understand how to put a floor in but now the problem I have is whatever is on the outside of the glass is cracked and spider wired so my main question is what I can I use to cover this and make the boat smooth again. Will a primer/filler for Walmart or auto zone work I will upload picture of what I'm talking about soon thanks

Based on the pic, she's gunna need a LOT of work. Is all the glass on the bottom of the hull in the same condition or is this condition isolated to certain spots. For sure it needs to be sanded or ground down to fresh glass before any kind of repair can be attempted. Is that black paint or some kind of undercoating?

I'll start with what I know I got the boat last year in august the last time it was registered to the water was in 95 (at least that's what the stickers on the side said) the boat was blue as you can see in the picture it had a big hole on one side a week spot on the other side and 2 holes and a cracked in the keel ( I posted a picture of one holes in the keel) I sanded it all down bought some bondo glass and fiberglass and resin from Walmart the black paint is flex-seal everything seemed to work pretty good for the last 2 months of fishing in Michigan but with the bad weather and snow we have had the glass is just peeling away from the boat. But as far as the chips and cracks on the side what could I use to smooth it out

Well, in the case of this boat, I'm gunna call it a lost cause and my advice is to not spend any more time, money, or effort on her. The Glass appears to be deteriorated to the point of no return. Now that it's been coated with an Inappropriate coating, IMHO, it's gunna make it very time consuming and expensive to do the proper repairs. Maybe some other members will differ with my assessment, but I'd find another boat.
