Not that it would necessarily offset the cost, but the 7.3 and 6.0 diesel trucks get better mpg than the gas ones (not so much on the 6.4 with the new emissions junk), they last longer about 100,000-300,000 miles longer depending on how well taken care of, and have way more power. Diesel IS more expensive than gasoline though, and it is something like an $8,000 option on a new truck. Also, on a side note, the 5R110 in the 6.0's is an excellent transmission, but you can't really say it is better than an Allison, since it was at least partially designed by Allison, Ford just can't use the name. Either way you will be pleased with a Super-Duty, just your personal preferences will decide gas or diesel. Good luck!
