I should clarify, I was not FOR this program. I hear apathy is a big problem in this country but I just don't care ;) But I do understand that there were many political positions that had to be satisfied in order for it to move forward. Compromise= where everyone is equally dissatisfied. For instance, scrapping of drivetrains appeased many environmentalists and brought them on board. In an era where nothing seems to get done due to partisanship, this is one program that actually happened. Right or wrong depends greatly on your perspective.

My biggest gripe was rewarding an industry, that had many self-inflicted problems, with a short term infusion of cash. The underlying problems have not been solved. However, it's now impossible to say for sure what would have happened if nothing was done.
