It is a two stroke. What you think is 4 plugs is actually 2 plugs and the other two caps are plugged into the coils. 50:1 gas tto oil of tcw3 two stroke oil (one pint to 6 gallons of gas)

Be certain to have a new impeller installed too.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I still don't know much about boats, for the gas can I just pour the gas and oil into my tank? And I also need help understanding what an impeller is.

best to add the oil first, then the gas, it will mix better that way. the impeller is the water pump, if it fails, you will overheat and possibly destroy your engine. if you plan on maintaining your motor yourself, a proper omc shop manual for your model will be worth its weight in gold.

Thank you. So I can pour the oil in the tank then pour the gas in? So I just need to get a whole new water pump to ensure myself that I won't overheat the motor?

Re: Evinrude tracker 25hp

you may need the water pump kit, or you may just need the impeller. no way to know for sure until its taken apart. ( shop/service manual if you plan to diy) and yes, just put the appropriate amount of proper oil in the tank, then add the fuel . 50:1 as mentioned

Thanks for all the help. I am gonna try to do everything myself. I have always been good with my hands so I think I could do it. I'm sure I will have more questions, comments, or just pictures of my setups and thing.

Re: Evinrude tracker 25hp

as mentioned, the proper service manual would be a wise investment!!! once you get started on the project, start a new thread in the johnson/evinrude form.

Will do. I hope to start the project in the next few weeks. Got to get ready for the fishing season. Thanks a bunch.

When tank is completely empty should have a 6 gal capacity, add required amount of 2 strokes oil to mix 6 gal, when refilling tank as you would not know how much fuel will need to be poured again, better buy a 2,3 gal fuel container and mix oil there, then pour mix into tank accordingly. Unless there's a precise fuel indicator on tank that indicates consuned gallons for a perfect top refill.

Will need to dismantle complete water pump located inside lower tail and have a look, if lower base plate and cup is very scratched change a complete water pump, if both mentioned parts are in good shape could change just the impeller. If you don't like playing being the mechanic send engine to a outboard shop and let them do the work for you.

Happy Boating

If it hasn't been suggested you should get a reprint factory service manual for your motor. They are available here at iboats.
It will help you understand better how the motor is layed out. There are also tips and cautions that are helpful.
Mixing fuel Add TCW3 stated oil to the tank and add gas.50:1(50 parts gas to one part oil) mix is 2.6 ozs of oil per gallon. Too much oil doesn't matter at all.If you were to double the mix,a waste, the motor wofuld run fine with no noticeable difference but for the smoke and eventually possibly fouled spark plugs.
Not enough oil could be death for your motor.
The 2 stroke outboard is very simple. Each cylinder has only 3 moving parts Piston, connecting rod and crank.
The carb feeds fuel directly into the crankcase through the reed valves where the oil is deposited on the moving parts then is forced into the combustion chamber and exhaust out the leg. Most manuals have schematics of the various outboard designs.
