Have several mid 70s Evinrudes I'm fixing up. Just wondering what you guys are using for paint? I've read that Dupli Color T155- Light Blue is a good match, but can't find any with that part no. Looking for a close match, doesn't have to be perfect. Also looking for some touch up paint that IS as close to OEM as possible. Is this something that can be found on Amazon maybe?

Why not use OEM paint?

Is OEM paint any good though? Seems a lot of people don't think so. Is Moeller a good paint? Expensive?

It seems the prevailing opinion is the OEM paints are runny. I read it on the internet so I know it's true......LOL

So nobody has tried any alternatives? I've found out the Dupli-Color people say is a close match is actually part of the Truck, Van, and SUV line. Maybe discontinued? I'm just looking for something that is cheap and easy to work with. If I have to use OEM no big deal. For touchups that's what I want anyhow. Just was hoping could find something else to use on motors I want to completely restore.

I ended up using this spray paint. If you do the rattle can get the trigger attachment. Paint just was too light on application. Seemed like a nozzle issue on all the cans but since I bought them I had to finish with it.

Thanks Scott. That explains why I can't find it. So guess OEM paint is the only game in town. I can work with it I reckon. Hope it comes in a good sized can, little cans never seem to do a good job. I do have one of those triggers and if the can sprays well the results rival using a spray gun IMO. Without all the fuss that comes with it. So who has the best deals on Evinrude paint? I don't really have any local sources so I need to order it.

Searched for two hours last night and I'm more confused now then when I started. What color is this engine? Blue? Green? Gold? In case you guys are wondering, yes I'm partially color blind.

Is this motor the same color? It's a '77.

Pics will never give us an accurate color. Ask someone local perhaps.

This shouldn't be that hard. So none of you guys have ever painted an Evinrude? How many different colors are there? I just can't find a definitive answer anywhere!

Different monitors / screens will show the colors differently. Color shift and all. So very, very difficult to go off a picture online. Best to do in person.

**To me, off that single photo in post 13, the engine looks grey. That's due to lighting and other factors....I'm not color blind so you can rule that out.

At bottom it shows a partial listing of various Evinrude blues. As you can see, there are a number of different shades of blue used throughout the years.

Thank you. That's very helpful. I'll have my wife scope out the two rudes which would help some, but I still need to figure out the exact paint color to have it come out right. That chart though is what I needed. Much obliged.

I hear you, but neither really needs a complete paint job. Might decide to redo the 25, but for right now I'd just like to find some matching paint for those two motors. Since I'm a bit color impaired, these rudes all look quite a bit alike and was hoping they all were the same color. I also got an 18 that to my eyes looks about the same.
