I have a 4.3 V6 OMC Cobra out of a Reinell and my buddy has a Seaswirl with the straight 6 OMC that has a blown headgasket. Would it be a difficult task to swap in the running V6?

Yes, very. The OMC pros will chime in. Do the motor mounts even look close to lining up?

Re: Engine swap

Just looked and it looks like the motor mounts are on the front of the straight 6 and of course the 4.3 has them on the sides

Just do the head gasket.. 2hr job and have it done. The straight 6 will be a stringer drive and the 4.3 Cobra swapping is another can of beans

Re: Engine swap

Depends on the 4.3's vintage,
approx. 99% of 4.3's cannot be mated to a stringer drive.

Head gaskets don't really just "blow" on an old 250 Chevy six though. Something else probably wrong besides just a gasket.
