Dear Liberal American,

I felt compelled to write to you today in hopes of developing a more unified country. First off, let me say that I don't hate you. I don't think you are a stupid person nor do I discount your opinions. The fact that we may disagree on many issues should not tear us apart as a nation.
Whilst we debate about various social, economic, and defense issues it is of the utmost importance that we maintain a friendly relationship in the process. There has always been a rift between us but we cannot sustain the current level of bitterness. Should we continue on the present course I can only believe that we will destroy ourselves, from the inside out.
No matter how divisive we become in the great debate we should remember we have more in common than we are sometimes concious of. We value our friends, hold dear our loved ones, care deeply about our nation, and love boating!
Our forefathers set things up for us so that we may or may not get "our" way. We have elections in which a government, represenative of the people, can be maintained. You win some, you lose some.
The health of our great nation can only be maintained if all remember we are Americans first, D's and R's (or I's etc.) second. Our viewpoints will always be better recieved with a mature and clear exchange of ideas, not a "well my guy did this because your guy did that" debate. Forces exist on this planet that strive to see our destruction. I propose we don't help them.

In Hopes of Unity,

A Conservative American
