Curious what folks think of this real story I was told just recently - "someones" son 19, was hanging with some friends, one had a gun, and also gave one to him, under the influence of pot and alcohol, they decided to rob someone of their $40 cell phone and pistol whipped the victim over the head, victim was not killed. Son is now in jail for 10 years, mother claims our "system" is racist as they are Hispanic. She also mentioned she would never "leave" her son behind, has spent thousands on his defense, is not asking for people to "judge" her son "and at least her son "didn't kill" the victim......................................I'm just curious to hear comments.....
P.S. I'll post what I commented to this individual later, this is certainly not a re post, poll or anything else, just what was told to myself.

Both instances are examples of non-sensical sentences. A crime is a crime is a crime. It's just as wrong to commit one against someone of your own race, religion, ethnicity, etc... as any one else. That's what the equal protection clause is meant to ensure, in theory.
