Thank you!!

I have to say, I have saturated this transom with the old timers formula and let it dry out for 48hours. Then I put two coats of spar urethane on the whole setup. This transom looks AWESOME!! It is going to keep water out for a lonnnggggggggg time!! What a great formulation!

I have read a lot of info on the 1:1:1 ratio, and this is the only place I have found that recommends 2parts mineral spirits, 1 part linseed oil and 1 part spar varnish/urethane. Either way it sounds like this has been a go to for natural wood finishes for a very long time, and I can see why!!

Well since you used MG plywood and a thorough saturation of OTR, that Transom should be good to go for a LONG time. Just make sure to quickly repair any deep gouges or penetrations that may occur over time. That formula has been around a LONG time. My grandfather taught me about 50 hears ago. He used it since he was a kid with the exception that they used the old time floor varnish. He had fence posts that were over 60 yrs old treated with it and they still looked new.

That's awesome WOG!!! I couldn't believe how well this thing turned out!! I spent a lot of time on it, but I don't want to have to pull that thing back out any time soon!!

Another step that I missed last time I did a restore, was drilling all of my holes out BEFORE I treated the wood. All of my holes have been sealed with the same method. I feel very confident in this transom!!

Going to get one more light sanding and one more coat.
