Well here are some better pics of how the boat currently sits. I still need to fastensure down the front & rear casting decks as well as tidy up the wiring in some areas. I want to do a test run before I bolt that stuff down tho incase I need better access to anything. The weather was horrible on the weekend so I didn't have any opportunity to splash her.....or install the seats which is kind if important haha.

I got some cool LED navigation lights that I cut into the rub rail and used some 5200 to hold them in there. We'll see how that works out. Seems good so far. I also just got my 60A breaker for the trolling motor so I can install the 24V system in the front there and connect that up now. Still lots of little things to pick at.....Enjoy the pics :joyous:

Your decks are great! It looks really good! Is that the Xi5 motor? It looks exactly like mine! I absolutely love it! Zero regrets with that purchase.
BUT you need to show us pics of your LEDs cut into your rail

Looks great Cowhune. I really like the decks, planning something similar for mine but I'm a long way from that.

I like the way the front and rear casting decks turned out. I'm envious of yours and hayko's trolling motors. They sound like the perfect thing for theese boats. I might have to add one to my Christmas wish this year. Good luck on some good weather for your splash.

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed response. I went on a little road trip/party mission with a buddy. I've been recovering from that and trying to finish up little odds and ends on the boat.

Thanks pal. Yeah it's an Xi5. I actually bought it last spring when I first got the boat. It's an amazing motor I don't regret it for a second. Like you, I went with the 80lb 24V motor since I figured it's better to have too much than not enough. Plus it will fit any future boat as well. I've used it to sit in some major current below a damn and the GPS anchor and jog functions allowed me to sit right in the current and fish around bridges and other structure. These things really take boat control out of the equation...it's just so easy. The trolling motor also saved me last summer when my 55hp self destructed out on the lake, so that's one way you can justify the expense to a certain someone right? ;)

P.s. Hayko your boat looks amazing. I love the design you went with on the outside.

Here it is, all ready to hit the water. Either tonight or tomorrow its going to happen. The old 70 I bought cleaned up really nice with a little degreaser and a scrub. I was actually suprised. I replaced the dead coil and it runs very smooth. After the water test I'll start the tune up on that thing.

Great choice of engine there Cowhune! :thumb:

Aside from the sexiness...it's a perfect fit for the 16'...light, powerful and bombproof!

what exactly did you use for the aluminum trim under the gunwals/capet seam? I like that look too and I know painted ones like mine can cook lunch!

forgot to mention, its lookin great!

Thanks g0ne, that's actually the aluminum trim that used to run around the top inside edge of the gunwales. I just flipped it upside down and cut it to fit. Rivets along the sides held it on nice and tight and should keep the carpet tight too. I still need to polish those parts up but I figured that was a good job to do while out floating on the water

No splash yet, CH? Weather not cooperating?

Yes sorry I got side tracked at work and forgot.

The splash went off without a hitch! I did lake ontario Friday evening and then spent the day on the grand river on Saturday. The motor and boat performed flawlessly and we had amazing weather. I was having such a great time I forgot about taking pictures. Here's one on the grand river though. I'll be sure to take some better ones next time I'm out.

Fantastic job on your boat!! It looks so clean and functional. You got me thinking about how to "expand" my front v seating to incorporate a perch or more deck. I find I love to stand up there and control my trolling motor.
Anyways, super boat!
