Console thickness

I’m trying to make a new center console for my boat and I’m wondering how thick I should I make the console it’s for a small poling skiff. Thanks

So many unknows for your question. If the boat fiberglass or aluminum? Are you building the center console out of wood, wood covered with fiberglass or aluminum? How wide, tall are you making it? Will you be standing driving it or seated? Post a picture or three so we can see what you are dealing with and fill in the questions for a better understanding of what you are wanting to do. Then we can offer answers that are more fitting to your question...

My 1448. The console is made from 5/8” CDX and painted with a 2 part paint. I made it for sit or stand. 15 years and it‘s holding up just fine, but the wood doesn’t touch the deck. It’s technically a side console because it’s not centered on the hull.

Depends on the material

.20 for 1708 fiberglass
.090 for aluminum and carbon fiber
.058 fir steel
