There is a circuitbreaker connected to the prim.side of the solenoid. Maybe it is relesed. Maybe you have a resetbutton on it (newer type). The ign.system need 12volt to operate, that is why you do not have any spark at the plugs.

Re: chrysler 75 hp wont fire

thankyou for that info im pretty sure its a 79 model not to sure but the reset button is out i pushed it a couple of times and still no different could it be the ignition barrel?because i put a new battery and the boat has been rewired up to the engine but they left the original barrel in it i also checked the volts in the barrel it says it has got 12 running to it chen as soon as i turn the key on it dies to .06?? what does this mean???

Check if you have 12volt at the ign.system after you reset the circuitbreaker.
1979 do not know if it is magnapower ign. with distributer or Prestolite ign.
If you have distributer you should have 12volt at the blue wire going to the powerpack.

Re: chrysler 75 hp wont fire

Read your post again and you say you have 12volts at the powerpack with the key in off position and it drop to 0volts when turning the key to run position.
Sounds you have some wrong connections at the key.
There should be 0volts in off pos. then 12volts in run pos. and still 12volts in start pos.
You can check if there is some problem in the powerpack by disconnect the blue wire at the junctionterminal.
If you have 12volts at the terminal in run and start pos. at it drops when you connect the bluewire, you have a shortcut or groundingproblem in the pack.

Re: chrysler 75 hp wont fire

sorry my miswording i was having a play around with it last night and at the key if i test the + (red ) theres 12 volt turn the key on and it dies to.06. the motor has the magna ignition with the dizzy and with the key on it says .06 volts at the key too for everything and i follow it to the engine and the only think that has 12 volt is where the battery goes to the solenoid. the choke the generator, tacho, all says .06?? as i said this is my first boat and im pretty fresh to outboards the boat has been rewired all except from the barrel to the engine. sorry if im making it hard to understand

Re: chrysler 75 hp wont fire

Seems you have wrong wirering. If you have chrysler/Force keyswitch and factory harness it should be like this.
Wire Connection at key
Red B
Blue I
Yellow S
Green C

The two left (M) are for magneto or CD ign with no battery feed.

At the terminal on engine the should be a decal at the exhaust side with information about colours and connection.
